This special event, held at the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit, celebrated the 10th anniversaries of both the Network for Education Quality Monitoring in the Asia-Pacific (NEQMAP) and the Institute of Informatics and Development (IID).
Co-hosted by UNESCO Bangkok and IID, the event featured reflections on significant advancements in education and development over the past ten years.
Margarete Sachs-Israel, Chief of Section for Inclusive Quality Education at UNESCO Bangkok, commenced the evening by welcoming guests and highlighting the remarkable achievements of the two organizations.
Seema Ali, the Additional Director of IID, acknowledged the impact of NEQMAP and IID on regional education systems, public policy, and technology integration. She praised their resilience and dedication amidst challenges and highlighted the need for continued advocacy in quality education, social justice, and informed policymaking. Ali encouraged ongoing collaboration and innovation.
Dr. Kraiyos Patrawart, Managing Director of the Equitable Education Fund (EEF) Bangkok, emphasized the vital role of equitable education in his keynote speech. He stressed the importance of foundational learning, teacher quality, and assessment data in enhancing educational quality. Dr. Patrawart advocated for innovative approaches in education, including the use of technology and AI, and discussed education’s role in tackling intergenerational poverty and contributing to economic development. He called for diverse methods in measuring education quality and stressed the importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange.
The evening ended with an informal session of idea-sharing and networking, fostering a sense of community and shared dedication to addressing future educational challenges and opportunities.
