The Youth Policy Summit 2024, organized by Youth for Policy and IID, will take place in Dhaka on December 21-22, 2024. This initiative seeks to engage youth as pivotal stakeholders in addressing critical systemic challenges in education, employment, and governance during Bangladesh’s transitional phase following the July 2024 anti-discrimination movement.
The summit is set against the backdrop of a transformative period in Bangladesh’s political landscape. Despite a large working-age population, the nation faces persistent unemployment, an education-market demand mismatch, and inequities in the labor market. The summit aims to harness the momentum of the youth-led July movement, which redefined the country’s reform priorities.
The program will feature panel sessions, interactive workshops, and consultations, focusing on aligning youth-led priorities with national reform commissions and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Key themes include advancing anti-discrimination principles, fostering intergenerational partnerships, and equipping youth with skills to contribute effectively to reform processes.
By convening 400 youth representatives alongside policymakers and civil society leaders, the summit aims to develop actionable policy recommendations and establish a roadmap for systemic change, ensuring equity and inclusivity in Bangladesh’s governance and development frameworks.
