With Support from IID’s Policy Action Award, Hashimukh Somaj Kallayan Songstha Advances Inclusive Education for All

In collaboration with policy partner IID and funded through IID’s Policy Action Award, Hashimukh Somaj Kallayan Songstha has successfully completed two major phases of its flagship Inclusive Capacity Building Program. Since January 2025, this initiative has been driving the mission of ‘Education for All — No One Left Behind,’ fostering an inclusive learning environment for marginalized children.

With the support of policy partner IID, two important phases of the six-month-long Inclusive Capacity Building Program have been successfully completed. A representative from Hashimukh stated, “The support of IID’s Policy Action Award has given our journey new momentum. This journey is far from over — in fact, it is only just beginning. We are moving forward with the dream of inclusive education.”

Hashimukh Samaj Kallayan Songstha continues its mission to uplift disadvantaged communities with remarkable strides across its core programs in education, health, nutrition, skills development, and emergency relief. The organization is currently running five flagship projects — including Education, Healthy Meals, Health & Hygiene, IT Training, and Art & Craft Training — that are transforming lives in Dhaka’s urban slums and beyond.

Over 400 slum children receive free, full-time education from nursery through twelfth grade. Hashimukh proudly reports that 53 students have passed SSC and 36 passed HSC since inception, while 15 are sitting for SSC exams this year. Through its Healthy Meals Program, now supported by new partner Thrive alongside Grameen Danone and Well Food, over 200 children are fed five days a week with balanced meals providing up to 75% of daily nutrition needs. With more than 750,000 meals served to date, the initiative continues to combat child malnutrition.

The Hashimukh school premises turned into a vibrant gathering place for underprivileged children. A total of 62 students, 55 parents, 7 teachers, and active members of the community participated, making the environment lively and meaningful. A core message emerged from the discussions: “Education is not confined to classrooms alone — it is built on the foundation of family love, teacher dedication, and collective support from society.”

In response to the question, “How can each child be taught at their own pace and according to their individual interests?”, participants — including parents and teachers — echoed a shared belief: “No one should be left behind or forgotten. Education is not just a right; it is our shared responsibility.”
